If the taxable basis needs to be adjusted, and increase or decrease to specific categories are allowed.
Go to: Advanced Payroll (v2) > Payroll Control Center > Pay Cycles tab
- Highlight employee that needs the adjustment
- Click Edit
- Go to the Adjustments tab
- Click Edit
For the example, if an employee needs to pay taxes on a $25 gift card, a basis adjustment should be made. In this case retirement and unemployment will not change.
- Click Basis in Social Security
- Enter the amount the basis needs to be adjusted.
- Click Basis in Medicare
- Enter the amount the basis needs to be adjusted.
- Click Basis in Taxable Wages
- Enter the amount the basis needs to be adjusted.
For the employer portion:
- Click in Soc Sec Adj
- Enter the amount the basis needs to be adjusted.
- Click in Medicare Adj
- Enter the amount the basis needs to be adjusted.
- Review
- Click Save & Close
