How Do I Adjust The Basis For Taxes?

If the taxable basis needs to be adjusted, and increase or decrease to specific categories are allowed.

Go to:  Advanced Payroll (v2) > Payroll Control Center > Pay Cycles tab

  1. Highlight employee that needs the adjustment
  2. Click Edit
  1. Go to the Adjustments tab
  2. Click Edit

For the example, if an employee needs to pay taxes on a $25 gift card, a basis adjustment should be made.  In this case retirement and unemployment will not change.

  1. Click Basis in Social Security
  2. Enter the amount the basis needs to be adjusted.
  1. Click Basis in Medicare
  2. Enter the amount the basis needs to be adjusted.
  1. Click Basis in Taxable Wages
  2. Enter the amount the basis needs to be adjusted.

For the employer portion:

  1. Click in Soc Sec Adj
  2. Enter the amount the basis needs to be adjusted.
  1. Click in Medicare Adj
  2. Enter the amount the basis needs to be adjusted.
  3. Review
  4. Click Save & Close
